Field Service Engineer

Based in Chester, Essex, and Leicester.

£20k-£24k basic (dependant on experience) + company van + on call/standby bonus + pension.

Our client is a well-known manufacturer of slings, hoists, shower chairs, and stair lifts, which are for home use and in care homes. Their products aid mobility, independence and improve daily life for the elderly and less able, and are highly recommended by leading clinical experts, the NHS, and Social Services. They are actively recruiting for field service engineers to support with the installation, service, and maintenance of the own brand products, as well as with a number of other products they offer for resale.

The business is well known for its customer care, performance, training, and communication (both with customers and internally). Everything they do is about improving the care and increasing independence of the people they serve.

The field service team is supported by an internal scheduling and customer service team, who manage all appointment setting and first line client contact. This ensures that the team of field service engineers can ensure maximum focus is on the customer at hand, and so that more than 90% of appointments are resolved without needing a second visit - which is a KPI of each individual engineer and should be easy to achieve as long as vans are kept well stocked with spare parts.

Due to our clients high standards for performance and service delivery, they only want to consider candidates who have the following experience:

  • First and foremost, a great attitude and a personable manner is essential.
  • Candidates must demonstrate at least 2 years experience as a field service engineer, work references will be taken later in the recruitment process.
  • It would be preferred if someone has dealt with slings, hoists, shower chairs, and stair lifts before, but service engineering in other areas would also be considered.
  • A smart presentable appearance and high level of customer service. The role is customer facing, so candidates must demonstrate at interview stage that they are able to present themselves well, communicate clearly, put the customers needs at the forefront of their role, and act respectfully.
  • Candidates who have a natural interest for care within the community, and who want to help customers improve their quality of life would be prioritised.
  • Candidates who are able to effectively manage their diary and work efficiently under pressure will do well in this business.
  • Candidates who make time to prepare themselves and their van regularly would excel in this business.
