JOB TITLE:

Senior Quality Engineer

Food Manufacturing Equipment

REPORTING TO:

Senior Production Engineer

LOCATION:

Peterborough based, but with extensive travel (see below)

JOB PURPOSE:

To ensure externally and internally manufactured components are to the correct standard. Where they are not, to ensure root cause is investigated and help deliver corrective actions.

To be responsible for the day to day running of the Quality & Inspection department budget, equipment purchases and calibration.

To provide feedback to the management team on quality trends and instigate quality improvement projects (both internally and externally)

To conduct internal and external manufacturing audits.

THE JOB (Main Duties):

  • To be responsible for the management and setting of the Inspection team work tasks.
  • To work closely with Purchasing, develop key suppliers and KPI metrics to monitor incoming goods.
  • To manage the development of service and maintenance schedules for key departmental equipment and those subject to legislation.
  • To develop systems to ensure quality reports and records are kept in an organised, easily accessible, yet secure manner.
  • To assist with the inspection of manufactured and purchased components.
  • To manage the process of customer returns and feed-back trends to the management team.
  • To monitor and report on trends in quality to identify actions to eliminate re-occurrence.
  • To develop a full knowledge of pressure vessel standards.
  • To help to drive a greater culture of high quality at the company.
  • To deliver/organise required training to drive quality team forward.
  • To audit suppliers where required.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • Extensive experience within a quality-focussed position (Quality Engineer, Quality Technician, Quality Inspector etc.)
  • Confident, decisive and able to demonstrate good people management and communication skills.
  • Good organisational skills are essential, with a sound technical ability to make decisions along with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Awareness of ASME and BS PD 5500 Codes would be beneficial.
  • Good knowledge of general computer packages (Word, Excel) is essential.
  • Awareness of legislative quality policies.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for up to 50% of time, including abroad.
  • Understanding of modern measuring techniques.
  • Green Belt preferable.
  • Experienced engineer capable of reading engineering drawings and using common measuring equipment.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Good awareness of fabrication, machining and assembly techniques.
